The association Marathon of Vannes :

Since 6 years, Athletics Section of Municipaux de Vannes and the Association Sportive of Centre Hospitalier Bretagne Atlantique *, each organizer of fame events, imagined the Marathon of Vannes. Indeed, the sunday 19th November 2000 at 9 h 30, 500 runners started for 15 km, followed at 10 h 00 by a cohort of 1700 competitors on the mythic journey of 42.195 km.

In all opinion, cap in hand, for a first, it was a great success. Gods of Mount Olympus were present. A few lucky was necessary for the party accomplishment.

The place and the public was wonderful : we knew it. Morbihan is a sportmans land.

On dreaming journey for a touristy stroll : roads, pedestrian ways in countryside and, for the majority, in seaside, passing in the historical city, locals products tasting and the athletes leaved entrance.

Promoted Marathon « coup de cœur » of year 2000 by Jogging international magazine, the 2 co-president Patrick Le Ray and Pierre Tessier, with a team (whereof 520 volunteers), in total adequacy, had to make durable and to set up the event in the "Gotha" of French Marathon.
