Since 5 years,
Athletics Section of Municipaux de Vannes and the Association
Sportive of Centre Hospitalier Bretagne Atlantique *, each organizer
of fame events, imagined the Marathon of Vannes. Indeed, the sunday
19th November 2000 at 9 h 30, 500 runners started for 15 km, followed
at 10 h 00 by a cohort of 1700 competitors on the mythic journey of
42.195 km.
In all opinion, cap in hand, for a first, it was a great success.
Gods of Mount Olympus were present. A few lucky was necessary for the party accomplishment.
The place and the public was wonderful : we knew it. Morbihan is a
sportmans land.
On dreaming journey for a touristy stroll : roads, pedestrian ways
in countryside and, for the majority, in seaside, passing in the historical city, locals products tasting and the athletes leaved entrance.
Promoted Marathon « coup de cur » of year 2000 by
Jogging international magazine, the 2 co-president Patrick
Le Ray and Pierre Tessier, with a team (whereof 520 volunteers), in
total adequacy, had to make durable and to set up the event in the
"Gotha" of French Marathon.

They mustn't forget somebody. Transition year was using to maintain
the flame like the work of 8 permanents committees.
But how to maintain, during the year, an event whereof the downbeats
take place during some days :
- Partner listening and giving value to their supports
- Continuous news via the medias
- Permanent exposition, at all our main photography partners selected
which reinforce human links.
- Implication of Marketing school in the search and publicity of closeness
support
- Communication and products selling.
Majority of first edition runners come from belts around.We had to propagate
and amplify this borning popularity.
Each first semester, promotionnal and targeted moves help to extend
our fame for sporting point of view and to give value to the image
of our belt. |
